Summer Hairstyles
Keeping your hair out of your face is important, especially when spending time outside in warm weather. Hiking, kayaking, and other outdoor activities require your hair to be out of the way. These styles do not require heat, so you can even use this guide on a camping or backpacking trip. These hairstyles provide a functional, fashionable way to maintain your hair without relying on a simple ponytail or bun.
Difficulty Level : Easy to Moderate
These summer hairstyles are easy, including one moderate style that utilizes a french braid. Click here to view a tutorial on how to french braid your own hair. Style number 3 utilizes a twist that can be considered more difficult. Click here to view a detailed tutorial on how to achieve the twisted look. Each of these styles take less than 5 minutes to do, making it easy to throw together before heading out on outdoor adventures.
Summer Hairstyles for Short to Medium Length Hair
Style 1
The first style is a simple, half up half down look using a claw clip. Simply part the hair at the ears and gather at the back of your head. Twist the hair into a bun shape and secure with your claw clip.
Style 2
The second style is a variation of the classic half up half down hairstyle. This is an easy way to keep your hair out of the way. Start at the front of your hair and begin a single french braid. After you incorporate your desired amount of hair, stop adding hair and braid normally. Secure the end with an elastic.
Style 3
The third style secures all of your hair out of your face and off of your neck. This summer hairstyle is perfect for hot and humid days. Split the hair in two equal sections, create two twists, and continue adding hair as you go. After you reach the base of your neck, secure into a bun with an elastic or with a claw clip.
Style 4
The fourth style is another variation of the classic half up half down hairstyle. Start by parting the hair halfway between the ears and the top of your head. Secure at with an elastic the back of your head. Split the ponytail above the elastic and flip through the hole. Pull. Next, gather the hair at the ears at the back of your head, including the first ponytail you created. Follow the same steps to flip the ponytail into itself.
