Routines
Humans are creatures of habit. Creating healthy habits transfers to every aspect of your life. If you have healthy habits, you are naturally apt to choose productive options over lazy or negative actions. Routines are proven to reduce stress and anxiety in adults which improves energy and overall health. Setting a routine every day makes it easy to keep a healthy pattern and stop making excuses.
Morning Routine
Set your day up for success. Having a specific morning routine allows you to get started every day with a scheduled self care moment. Self care is so important for your mental and physical health, so starting your morning like this guarantees you’re in the right headspace for whatever you’ve got going on throughout the day. This ritual needs to be custom to you, and something you can realistically do every single day. It doesn’t have to be hours long – unless you want it to be – just something to establish routine into your daily life. Write out the morning routine you want to complete, with time stamps, in your planner and follow it every day. For example, set a specific time to wake up and complete a skincare routine to start your day off right.
Night Routine
Ending the day right is just as important as starting it right. No matter what kind of day you had, a night routine will relax your mind and body to wash the day away before going to sleep. A night routine is important because to be productive, you need to be rested. Checking in with yourself before bed and doing something that makes you happy is sometimes all you need to sleep better. Write out your night routine that you want to complete, with time stamps, in your planner and follow it every day. For example, set a specific time to read, do skincare, or do nightly yoga to relax before closing your eyes.
Affirmation and Gratitude Routine
This is an added routine that you can complete at any point during the day, which is listening to positive affirmations and thinking about what you are grateful for. I like to do these rituals in combination with my morning and night routines. Listening to positive affirmations improves your mental health substantially. Either listen to an affirmation video online, or write down custom affirmations. Write down 1 thing you are grateful for every day. These two exercises will change the way you think and view yourself which elevates your mindset. Expressing gratitude replaces stressful or negative thoughts with positive ones, and affirmations retrain your subconscious to create more confidence within yourself.
Mental and Physical Exercise Routine
Productivity begins with a healthy body and mind. If you feel that you’ve completed something beneficial for your body and mind each day, you’ll be ready to complete more. Gratitude and affirmations is a perfect mental exercise to condition your mind and change your attitude toward goals. Physical exercise is another crucial step to overall well-being.
Physical Exercise
A healthy body fosters a healthy mind, so doing daily physical exercise is key to achieving your goals. Physical exercise doesn’t always mean going to the gym and lifting 500 pounds, it can also mean taking your dog on a walk or doing yoga at home. Just moving your body in any way is beneficial. Set a time each day to complete a physical exercise that YOU find fulfilling.
Mental Exercise
Mental exercise is so important to change the way you think, which then leads to a change in the way you act. The goal of mental exercises is to shape your mind to believe your goals are attainable, no matter how big or small. Get delusional. This means believing in things that you might not actually know the outcome of. For example, instead of thinking; “I wish” or “I want”, think “I can”. Your mind is so powerful that just by thinking differently, you can manifest anything you want. The key is to believe you can, and your life will start to shift.
Future Mentality
A simple way to focus on the future is to realize that the past doesn’t exist. There is no way to change anything that has already happened. The sooner you realize this, the sooner you can move on from things that fog your mind. There is no reason to dwell on anything because the only thing you can change is the future. Focus on each task at hand and make decisions that will bring you closer to your goals. This can be difficult for a lot of people and sometimes you have to be strict with yourself. Each day, make decisions for your future self and stop making excuses!
Positive Media Only
Frankly, the media we consume influences us more than we think. In 2023, we are ditching all media that doesn’t serve us and allowing only positive energy into our headspace. Social media can manipulate your attitude toward goals, so make sure you consume the media that serves you. If your goals include being healthier, follow health related pages to gain inspiration and motivation. Following fast food pages or media that promotes being unhealthy won’t get you any closer to your goal. Be mindful of this and use the media as a tool to inspire and motivate you. Monitor the amount of time you spend on your phone. Scrolling and scrolling distracts you from getting shit done. Changing how you view media changes the aerial view of your environment.
Change Your Environment
Take a look at your goals. Will you be able to achieve them from where you are right now? It is important to shape your environment to serve you. This can mean surrounding yourself with people that have a different mindset or moving out of a toxic environment. You need to put yourself in an environment big enough for what you want to accomplish. If you put a fish in a small tank, it can only grow to a certain size. If you move that fish to a pond, it may just reach its full potential. Would you rather be confined to certain boundaries, or given the room to reach your maximum capabilities? The most growth happens when you’re uncomfortable. This may mean moving away from your small hometown, living on your own, or making new friends. Change your environment, get uncomfortable, and see how much you grow as a person.
Be Selfish
It’s time to focus on yourself in 2023. Being selfish is not a bad thing, and makes a big difference in your progress toward success. One of the biggest problems women face in life is people pleasing. We are taught to always make everyone happy even if it means sacrificing our own happiness. At this transitional period age 19-30, some of us might be just starting to break away from other peoples dreams and goals set out for us. It might seem uncomfortable to make decisions in your best interest, but that’s life. It’s time to realize what you want, and start working toward your own goals. The fun part of life is the fact that you can do whatever. you. want.
