“Paracord” is an abbreviation for parachute cord. Paracord is a material that has hundreds of outdoor survival uses. From hanging your hammock to catching dinner, having paracord on hand is an essential packing item for anyone who spends time outside. Supplies: What You’ll Need
- parachute cord
- scissors
- lighter
Parachute Cord – Parachute cord or “paracord” is sold at most craft and sporting goods stores. If you can’t find paracord in store, you can purchase it here.
Scissors – Any household scissors will work for this project. Scissors are required to cut the paracord to the desired length. If you do not have access to scissors, a survival knife will work to cut the cord to length.
Lighter – If you don’t have a lighter, you can also use a match. Flame seals off the ends of the paracord after it is cut to length to prevent fraying.
DIY Paracord Bracelet | 2 Ways
Instructions:
For each bracelet, start with about 1 1/2 to 2 feet of paracord to create enough slack.
Adjustable Sliding Knot Bracelet
First Knot
First, create a loop by crossing the right side of the paracord over the left. Thread the new right string through the loop from behind to create a smaller loop. Repeat to create a second loop on the left side of the first. Thread the end of the cord through the two small loops, and pull.
Second Knot
Create a knot to the right of your initial knot, using the same process as before. Cut off excess cord, and adjust around your wrist for your desired fit by sliding the knots. Hold a flame to the ends to prevent fraying.
Eternity Knot Adjustable Bracelet
Eternity Knot
Fold your paracord string at about the 1/3 point to create a longer end, and a shorter end. Cross the paracord over itself to create a loop. Gather the string from the long side, and fold. Thread the folded loop through the hole of the crossed loop. Pull the short side to create a knot. Thread the long end through the existing loop.
Eternity Knot
Pull the loop tight, creating another knot. Cross the new loop over itself, shown in step 5. Thread the paracord through the crossed loop, and pull to create the eternity knot. Make a new loop on the short side of the knot.
Adjustable End
Wrap the free end twice, then thread through the loops you just created and pull. Thread the long end through the loop, and adjust to fit your wrist. Tie a standard knot and cut excess. Hold a flame to the ends to prevent fraying.
